Position Description

ARCO, A COMMUNITY RESOURCE is a nonprofit United Way Agency that provides services for adults with developmental disabilities and their families throughout northeast Louisiana since 1954.

General Function

To assist the Resource Development Director in implementing special events to promote and raise funds for Arco. This will include the use of customized software for data entry, database and spreadsheet creation and maintenance as well as typing, filing and the use of general office equipment. These duties will require accurate and timely data entry and database maintenance that will enable specific reports to be generated for the use of comparison and evaluation and/or public relations. To assist the Executive Director as needed and ensure the daily operations of the agency are carried out.

Qualifications

• Articulate ARCO’s mission and needs at a post-secondary level, both in writing and in spoken language.

• Be personally engaging when relating to individuals or small or large groups. To present information confidently.

• Help to identify and engage volunteers for long and short term basis for resource development (funding, assistance with projects, etc.) in ways that also promote the agency’s mission.

• Help articulate ARCO’s mission and needs at a post-secondary level, both in writing and in spoken language.

• Help to identify grant sources and to submit requests for these.

• Assess individual, community, and business needs and strengths relative to their compatibility of those of ARCO, to explore the possibility of relationships with mutual benefits, and to engage accordingly.

• Negotiate with individuals, businesses, or government entities for the best outcome for ARCO or those it represents.

• Help plan and execute events, large and small, in all of the parts of these.

• Calculate a cost to benefit analysis of specific efforts of revenue generating, including the benefits relative to funds, interests of participants, public awareness, or other worthwhile achievement.

• Maintain an accurate and complete data system, research and interpret information captured.

• Understanding of sophisticated electronic information delivery and usage, including the hardware, software, and the intersections of these.

• Ability to work with IT vendor or other IT resource personnel or agents to produce the best outcome for ARCO as directed by the IT Director.
